Woohoo!  Your dog is home!  Here's what to do next:

Picture
Please let us know as soon as your dog is home!  Updating your dog's status allows our volunteers to focus their efforts on dogs who are still lost.  As you know, lost dogs and their families need every bit of help to get them back home safely.   Please don't forget to let us know your dog is home!

We love to hear happy endings!  Please let us know how you were able to find your dog. Your story will be featured in our reunion post on Facebook, which provides much-needed hope to other families who are still searching and helps to illustrate which methods are successful. Your response may help another lost dog get back home to their family!

Next:
  • Take your pet to the vet for a check-up.
  • Update social media posts.  We will update your post on the Lost Dogs Florida Facebook page once we receive the updated notice from Pet FBI.
  • Remove flyers and signs.
  • Notify the shelter.
  • Check your dog's tag. Is it readable and has up-to-date information?  If not, replace it now!
  • If your dog doesn't already have an ID tag with your first and last name, address, and phone number -- and a microchip -- this would be a great "welcome home" present!
  • If your dog has a microchip, contact the chip company today. If you reported your dog missing, update that alert. Make sure the chip is registered to YOU, not to a shelter or rescue, and confirm they have at least two current phone numbers listed in your file. In addition, also provide an emergency contact who lives outside your home. Many owners assume the chip is registered correctly, but an estimated 40–60% are unregistered or have outdated information. A microchip is only as effective as the info on file—update it today!
